Robins lead Clarkson chase

Bristol City have joined the race to sign Motherwell's highly-rated striker David Clarkson.

The Robins are believed to have made a bid in the region of £600,000 for the 23-year-old Scotland international, who is also been chased by Cardiff City.

Clarkson scored 13 goals for Motherwell in the 2007-08 season following his transfer from Rangers and was slightly more prolific last term when he found the net 14 times in 39 appearances.

City boss Gary Johnson is desperate to bolster his attacking options following the departures of Peter Styvar and Dele Adebola since the end of last season.
