Bristol City boss Gary Johnson says he extended Steve Brooker's loan spell with Cheltenham Town so that the striker could continue his rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury.
Brooker will spend a second month at Whaddon Road, with Johnson having recruited Dele Adebola from Coventry City in the January transfer window.
Johnson told the Evening Post: "Steve still needs more games before he's ready to come back into our squad and that's why we've extended his loan.
"But we do have the option of a 24-hour recall if one of the other strikers gets injured and we need Steve back in a hurry.
"It's been a long road for him and that's why we decided to bring Dele Adebola in when we knew he was available. We couldn't keep waiting and waiting for Steve.
"This way, he can stay at Cheltenham, get more games under his belt and be ready when he returns to us."
