Bristol City are confident that influential midfielder Marvin Elliott will sign a new Ashton Gate contract shortly.

The 24-year-old former Millwall star had been linked with a £3million switch to Fulham, but City's chief executive Colin Sexstone insists that is not the case.

He said: "There's nothing in it as far as I know. Marvin's just come back from Jamaica and we've had no approach from anyone.

"We aren't looking to sell him at all and we haven't even had any unofficial approaches.

"Everything had been agreed before he left on holiday but he just wasn't able to be at Ashton Gate to sign it."
