Bristol City are on the verge of snapping up Ipswich Town's Wales international Gavin Williams after a transfer fee for the 28-year-old was agreed by both teams.
The former Hereford United, Yeovil Town and West Ham United player has already agreed personal terms and will complete his moves to Ashton Gate if he passes a medical.
Robins boss Gary Johnson is keen to sign Williams as a replacement for Nick Carle, who looks set to move to Crystal Palace.
Ipswich manager Jim Magilton said of the proposed transfer: "It looks as though it's going to happen.
"Gavin's a very good player and, at times, has looked a fantastic player. But injuries haven't helped him.
"He's a lively lad who, if he settles down and concentrates fully on his football, can be a big asset.
"Gary Johnson knows him from his Yeovil days and is aware of just how good he can be."
