Bristol City boss Gary Johnson has blasted reports of a bust-up with striker Marcus Stewart and insists the player is still part of his plans.

Stewart has failed to make an impression since his high profile move to Ashton Gate in the summer and has not made an appearance in the last ten games, sparking rumours of a fall-out with Johnson.

"Unfortunately some people have chosen to make something out of the situation, but it is absolute rubbish," Johnson told the club's official website.

"I am a professional manager and Marcus is a professional footballer. No player likes being left out of the team and I wouldn't expect him to be happy about it but that's as far as it goes.

"Marcus has always been part of the squad and at the moment he is a big part. Any player left out will earn another chance if he trains right and keeps his mental state right.

"A manager has to pick the team he believes is best equipped to do the job on the day and I will continue to do that."
