Positivity pleases Johnson
03 Dec 2007 - 11:51:36
Bristol City manager Gary Johnson was pleased to see his positive approach pay off in the 2-1 victory at Championship leaders Watford at the weekend.
Johnson threw on strikers Lee Trundle and Darren Byfield late on at Vicarage Road, with the latter netting a last-gasp winner with his first touch of the ball.
City boss Johnson said: "When I put Darren Byfield on I said to him that he might get one chance, so he had to be ready for it and he certainly was.
"This club just doesn't give in anymore. These boys never stop fighting and that's something that's in our system now.
"We could have settled for a point when they scored, but we weren't prepared to do that.
"We could have put another defender on and shored things up, but we didn't want to settle for a draw after the way we had played. That's why we decided to go for it.
"I put Lee Trundle and Darren Byfield on so we could try and win the game."
