Millen wants call-ups

Bristol City boss Keith Millen wants as many of his players as possible to play international football.Reserve goalkeeper Stephen Henderson was the only City player away with his country during the current international break. The Under-21 international played in the Republic of Ireland's 1-0 defeat in Switzerland on Friday. The lack of involvement in the European Championship qualifiers has meant that Millen has been able to work with his squad on the training ground as they search for a first win of the season at Scunthorpe on Saturday. But the City boss wants his men to earn recognition at international level and is prepared to encourage new striker Brett Pitman to play for Wales if a chance comes along. The £800,000 signing from Bournemouth hails from Jersey but is eligible to play for any of the four home nations, and Millen said: "I would encourage it. The more players who are doing well and getting recognition the better. It shows you are doing things right as a club."Defenders Christian Ribeiro and Lewin Nyatanga would both have been on duty with Wales this week had they not been injured.
