Millen stands up for Johnson
10 Dec 2009 - 07:06:58
Bristol City's assistant manager Keith Millen faced the press after a 3-1 win at Leicester City moved the Robins to within a couple of points of the Championship play-off places.
Boss Gary Johnson was unhappy with recent criticism of his side's form, with City having gone five games without a win before their success at the Walkers Stadium.
Millen told the Evening Post: "There has been a lot of pressure put on us from outside the club and Gary felt it might help if a different voice tried to explain what we are doing and trying to achieve.
"We couldn't really understand why we were being criticised to such an extent. But Gary is a very happy man right now and this win will do wonders for confidence.
"You could see the confidence come flooding back from the moment Ivan (Sproule) scored the opening goal.
"We have a tough game coming up at Doncaster on Saturday and this result gives us something to build on."
