McAllister elated after recall
03 Oct 2008 - 07:33:54
Bristol City left-back Jamie McAllister is delighted to have earned a recall to the senior Scotland squad, more than four years after winning his only cap to date.
The 30-year-old played in a 4-1 friendly win over Trinidad & Tobago in May 2004, but has since dropped out of the international reckoning.
However, he has now won a place in George Burley's squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Norway.
McAllister told his club's official website: "It's great news and I was happy when I received the call yesterday (Wednesday).
"It's something I've been striving for and now it's happened, so it's up to me to take my chance.
"I never stopped believing I could get back into the national side. It's one foot in the door and hopefully now I can do really well and establish myself.
"I knew they had been keeping tabs on me, but it's just nice that I'm now back in the squad."
