Maynard bids turned down
07 Jul 2008 - 11:37:02
Bristol City have been handed further bad news on the transfer front after seeing a bid for Crewe forward Nicky Maynard turned down.
Maynard is highly rated by the Alex board and a £2million price tag is likely to scare off the Robins and Ipswich Town, who are both reportedly interested in the 21-year-old forward.
If that valuation was reduced then City could well return with a further bid as they look to bolster their small squad for another Championship campaign.
Gavin Williams remains the only major signing of the summer at Ashton Gate, where strikers are a priority.
They may have to make a swift decision on Maynard, who is also being tracked by Middlesbrough, Fulham and Hull.
