Keogh interests Shrimpers

Bristol City defender Richard Keogh could be dropping down a division and signing for Southend United this summer.

The 21-year-old failed to make a Championship appearance for the Robins last term and was loaned out to Huddersfield Town, Carlisle United and Cheltenham Town.

Keogh has been offered a new Ashton Gate contract but chief executive Colin Sexstone admitted: "There's been interest from Southend United.

"They called to ask about Richard Keogh, but that's as far as things have gone so far. We haven't received an offer.

"Richard may be out of contract, but we still retain his registration and we'll want a fee should he move on."
