Bristol City boss Gary Johnson remains confident that record signing Nicky Maynard will prove to be a success at Ashton gate this season.
The 21-year-old former Crewe Alexandra frontman missed a sitter in the 1-0 victory at Blackpool on the opening day of the new campaign, but Johnson has full faith in Maynard.
He told the Evening Post: "Nicky Maynard will be in double figures for goals come the end of the season. I don't doubt that for one moment.
"I want my strikers to get themselves in dangerous positions and to pose a threat in the penalty area.
"Although he had a bit of a quiet game, Nicky still did that and on another day could easily have had a couple of goals.
"He hasn't scored in this game, but he showed what he's about and, if he keeps getting himself on the end of things, it will only be a matter of time."
