Johnson eyes festive cheer

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson is confident the club can win their vital festive fixtures and be out of the League One drop zone before the new year.

The Robins, who are only in the relegation zone by virtue of having an inferior goal difference to four other teams all on 22 points, will go head-to-head with Gillingham, Rotherham - one of the teams on the same number of points - and Yeovil, who are all just above them in the table.

Johnson recognises that any points on the board from those games will enhance his side's survival hopes and possibly see them move away from the danger zone going into January.

"Even at this early stage they are six-pointers, and if you can beat them you drag them back into the fray," he told BBC Radio Bristol.

"It's a time when you can pick up points and find yourself flying up the league in a short space of time."
