Bristol City boss Gary Johnson was pleased to see his side move back into the automatic promotion places in League One with a 3-1 victory at Chesterfield.
The Robins were three goals ahead by half-time, as they cashed in on Nottingham Forest's loss to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening.
Johnson said: "This was a massive game, because if we were going to respond to Nottingham Forest's defeat, we had to get three points.
"It's nice to go into second place, but we now have to prove we can take up the challenge because, when you are second, you are there to be shot at.
"I thought our first-half performance was very impressive and we knew that we needed to work hard and that we had to come here and get ourselves in front."
