Bristol City boss Gary Johnson has denied that he is close to agreeing a deal for Sparta Prague striker Libor Dosek.
Press reports on Tuesday morning had strongly linked the Czech Republic frontman, but Johnson says that they are some way wide of the mark.
He said: "We are not that close to tying up any signing. We are aware of him, but we are aware of hundreds of players in all positions.
"If you rounded up all the names of players being linked with clubs in the papers throughout January and looked at the end of the month at how many had gone through, it wouldn't be very many.
"I get calls and letters from hundreds of agents about players every day.
"Fans should realise that agents and clubs are using the media to drum up interest in their players. It is why the transfer window is a joke."
