Johnson confirmed as Robins boss

Gary Johnson has been confirmed as the new manager of Bristol City after agreeing to leave Yeovil Town.

The former Latvia coach succeeds player-boss Brian Tinnion, who left Ashton Gate after the 7-1 defeat against Swansea City earlier this month.

Johnson has been manager of the Glovers since June 2001 and turned down the chance to replace George Burley as Derby County manager in the summer.

Steve Thompson, who was assistant to Johnson at Yeovil, will act as caretaker boss at Huish Park.
