Johnson calms jubilant City
11 May 2008 - 11:33:34
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson has urged his players not to get too carried away by their 2-1 play-off semi-final first leg win at Crystal Palace.
A last-gasp stunner by David Noble gave the Robins a narrow advantage to take back to Ashton Gate, but Johnson was cautious in victory.
He said: "told the lads not to get carried away, it's only half-time and there's only a goal in it.
"It was a good performance, but I did not want it to look like we were over-celebrating, so I nipped that in the bud.'
"We're only one game closer to the final, that's it and that's why we pulled them all together at the end for a little chat. It was important we didn't run around and celebrate
"We have to prepare properly for the second half of this semi-final at Ashton Gate on Tuesday night."
