Published: 08 Apr 2010 - 14:40:10

Bristol City have been boosted by the news the injury Dean Gerken sustained in last week`s clash with Nottingham Forest is not as bad as first feared. The club`s medical staff initially thought the 24-year-old goalkeeper had broken his collarbone but club physio Nick Dawes has revealed two X-rays have shown no fracture."Our worst fears have not come true, which is great news for Dean and the team," Dawes told the club`s official website. "We are still keeping an eye on him because of the bruising, swelling and he has also got some soreness in the wrist."However, the big news is he doesn`t have a fractured clavicle (collarbone)."Caretaker manager Keith Millen said: "We all feared Dean`s season would be over but this is great news. He`s still quite sore and we have to watch him closely to see when he will be available again."
