Bristol City have signed goalkeeper Dean Gerken from Colchester United for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old keeper has agreed a two-year contract at Ashton Gate and will challenge Adriano Basso for the number one jersey next season.

"We've always liked him," said manager Gary Johnson. "He's the one we think can push Adriano Basso all the way for the number one spot.

"He's a good acquisition and has already played 60/70 odd games for Colchester in the Championship so is very experienced.

"He's a big lad and kicks well and I'm pleased to have acquired his services."

Meanwhile, Johnson has revealed that he expects to make more new signings before the end of the week.
