Enoch opts for Robins stay
25 Jan 2008 - 11:11:57
Bristol City striker Enoch Showunmi has opted to stay at Ashton Gate and fight for a first-team place rather than drop down a division to play for Leeds United.
The two clubs had agreed a fee for the 25-year-old former Luton Town forward only for Showunmi to turn down the chance to move to Elland Road.
The player's decision has surprised Robins boss Gary Johnson, who told the Bristol Evening Post: "We agreed a transfer fee and, to be honest, I thought it was a good move for him.
"But the player still has to want to go and it was always going to be up to him whether or not he wanted to talk to Leeds. That decision was in the hands of Enoch and his representatives.
"If he stays, it will just mean more competition."
