Coppell confirmed by Robins
22 Apr 2010 - 12:05:33
Bristol City have confirmed the appointment of Steve Coppell as their new manager.
Coppell will replace caretaker manager Keith Millen in the Ashton Gate hot-seat at the end of the current campaign after agreeing a rolling 12-month contract with the Championship side.
The 54-year-old former England international has been out of work since leaving Reading by mutual consent at the end of last season.
"This is a club that wants to go forward and wants to be in the top division. It's my opportunity to take this club there and that is our challenge," he explained.
"No one person can do it by themselves and we will need to work as a team.
"Football is a week-to-week industry and I will be looking for improvement.
"Everyone is judged on results and we need to win games but we need to finish strongly this season and look to kick on."
Meanwhile, Coppell also confirmed that Millen will stay on as assistant manager following his successful spell in interim charge of the Robins.
