Coppell braced for departures
26 Jul 2010 - 13:58:36
Bristol City manager Steve Coppell has admitted defender Bradley Orr is on the verge of leaving the club.
He missed the weekend defeat at Aldershot and Coppell revealed the 27-year-old would be leaving Ashton Gate within a couple of days.
The former Crystal Palace and Reading boss also suggested it is difficult to keep hold of a player who wants to depart as he gets set to lose Scottish Premier League-bound Paul Hartley.
"It looks like Bradley will be leaving the club," Coppell told City's official website. "I couldn't include him (in the squad) because we've near enough finalised details on a move.
"Brad is the kind of player I'd love to keep at the club but he has a seed in his mind that he wants a fresh challenge. He only has a year left on his contract and that leaves us vulnerable.
"Brad gives everything and I don't doubt anything he's done in pre-season and during my dealings with him. He really wants a move though and it's likely that will happen this week.
"Do you keep a player who wants to leave? It's very hard to get replacements in the time period we've had. Do you keep him here and have an unhappy player around the place, or make do without him?"
