Bristol City have dismissed reports linking veteran midfielder Paul Hartley with a return to Scotland to join former club Hearts.

The 33-year-old has already been linked with Hibernian this summer, but the Robins insist that no deal is on the cards and that they expect Hartley to still be at Ashton Gate next season.

Chief executive Colin Sexstone told the club's official website: "I'm not sure where these stories come from, but people are playing with words and getting it wrong.

"There has been absolutely no dialogue between Bristol City and Hearts and I can say categorically that Paul is not on the transfer list."

Hartley joined City a year ago from Celtic and scored five goals in 42 games for the Robins last season.
