Brooker suffers setback
10 Sep 2007 - 10:13:44
Unlucky Bristol City striker Stephen Brooker looks set to be forced to have a second operation on his injured knee.
The 26-year-old had to have initial surgery on the problem in May, but has been told more scar tissue needs to be removed from the knee.
Robins boss Gary Johnson told the club's official website: "He's been so unlucky and he's very frustrated right now because he's worked so hard.
"He's been training well and working all the time in the gym, but unfortunately he just can't get that last half-an-inch of mobility from his knee.
"He still can't strike the ball at full pelt on that leg or go at full stretch.
"I really feel for Brooks, but thankfully he's only 26 - despite looking 36 - and has age on his side."
The former Port Vale man's last game was the goalless draw with Swansea City at Ashton Gate five months ago.
