Better news for Brooker
05 Nov 2007 - 14:01:58
Bristol City manager Gary Johnson is hopeful that Stephen Brooker will be able to return to first-team action soon.
The 27-year-old former Port Vale striker has not played since April and has been forced to endure two operations on his serious knee injury.
Johnson told the Bristol Evening News: "Things are looking a lot more positive for Steve Brooker this time. Although he had an operation at the end of last season, he always felt there was something not quite right with the knee.
"He got back training and played in a reserve game, but was still feeling discomfort. That's why he went back in for another operation in September, and that seems to have done the job.
"Brooks is now without pain for the first time in a long time and says the knee feels different. He's working hard on his rehabilitation and things are a lot more encouraging for him.
"It's difficult to put a timescale on these things, but it looks as though he could be ready quicker than we thought."
