Akinde aims for the top
02 Sep 2008 - 11:33:35
John Akinde believes he is good enough to play in the Premier League after completing his £140,000 transfer from Ebbsfleet to Bristol City.
The 19-year-old, who scored ten times in 32 appearances for the Blue Square Premier League side, believes he can reach his dream with the Robins.
"The Premiership is where everyone wants to be and it's why I came into the game in the first place," Akinde told the Bristol Evening Post.
"I want to further myself and perform at the highest level. That means playing in the Premiership and I'd like to think I can do that with Bristol City.
"I came to football late and didn't join a club until my family moved to Gravesend. But things have moved very quickly for me since then.
"Now I'm with Bristol City and looking forward to playing in the Championship. I'm very excited by that."
