Williams could earn Rovers start
Williams, transfer listed in the summer after being deemed not good enough for League One and making his seventh consecutive appearance from the bench, proved Rovers' super-sub again as he powered home a 95th-minute winner from 25 yards.
Trollope, whose side remain third in the table, said: "I'm pleased with the performance and it was a great way to win a game of football - the spirit of the lads in the last 10 minutes was magnificent.
"I'm pleased with the progress we have made so far this season and coming to a place like Southampton, who in my mind are in a false position and have plenty of quality players, and to get a win is fantastic.
"I'm also pleased for Andy, who has shown great commitment through what was a difficult season for him last year and he's put himself in contention for a starting role."
