Trollope frustrated by big freeze

Bristol Rovers boss Paul Trollope has spoken of his frustration following the postponement of yet another game due to adverse weather conditions - the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern area semi-final against Exeter. The clash, originally scheduled for November 30, was called off again this week and will now take place on December 14, but Trollope is finding it hard to keep his players fit and ready. He told the Evening Post: "Hopefully, we can play a game sooner rather than later because it does become frustrating when you are training without playing. "We are aware that we need to keep on top of players' fitness levels and match sharpness. We need to make sure they are in the right physical and mental state to perform. "It's a balancing act between getting in the right sort of physical work and keeping the players mentally fresh. If you do the same sort of training every day then it can become a little bit boring. The main thing is to ensure that when we do play again, the players are ready. "We have had to do extra gym work with them, and last week we had a spin class and a boxing class, as well as using the swimming pool. You can keep on top of the strength and conditioning work. But the things you need to do on the training field can't always be done as thoroughly as you would like, so you have to be creative in other ways."
