Bristol Rovers warmed up for their League One opener at Peterborough on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat by Stoke at the Memorial Stadium. The Barclays Premier League side opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Turkey striker Tuncay pounced at the second attempt for his fifth goal of pre-season. But the Pirates levelled in the 45th minute when Dominic Blizzard headed home into an empty net after Thomas Sorensen flapped at a corner. There was still time for Stoke to regain the lead, Ricardo Fulller beating three defenders before rounding the keeper and slotting home.
