Max power earns Pilgrims point

Maxine Blanchard smashed in an 84th-minute equaliser to earn Plymouth a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers at Home Park.

The French central defender fired home following substitute Luke Young's cross into the penalty area. It was just reward for Blanchard, whose 18th-minute header crashed off the underside of the bar four minutes after Rovers had swept into the lead.

Rovers target man Matt Harrold nodded home Matt Gill's corner from the left to claim his 13th goal of the season and hand the visitors an early advantage.

Top scorer Harrold could have doubled his tally in the 40th minute but his downward header from Mustapha Carayol's left-wing cross flew inches wide.

Carayol then brought the best out of home keeper Jake Cole with a thumping second-half drive that needed to be palmed away from goal.

And Rovers number one Scott Bevan flapped over Conor Hourihane's rising 71st-minute effort, which proved to be a sign of things to come as the relegation-haunted Pilgrims piled on late pressure.
