Penney: Relegation is real

Bristol Rovers boss Dave Penney bemoaned his side`s defending before admitting relegation is a real possibility for his struggling side. The Pirates slipped to a 4-1 defeat at in-form Leyton Orient - a result which saw them drop to the foot of npower League One. Harry Kane came off the bench to score twice and seal victory for Orient after Jimmy Smith`s header and an Andrew Whing screamer had put them in control. Rovers had pulled one back through Ben Chorley`s own goal. Penney, who was appointed in early January, said: "We can't defend, it's as simple as that. No matter what work we do with the players, we are letting goals in for fun. "I don't think that they (Orient) scored particularly good goals and I thought we gave as good as we got during the game in terms of possession and chances. But every time the ball comes into our box, it looks like we are going to concede a goal. "It's massively disappointing because it`s five games on the spin now without a win and if you carry on with that kind of form, then you will get relegated. "I think this is going to be the hardest six months that I'll have in football for sure. Every game is a big game now and we need to start picking up points straight away. But if we defend like we did in this game then we will keep on getting beaten. We have to defend better."
