Penney down after defeat

Manager Dave Penney could not hide his disappointment after watching Bristol Rovers fall to a 3-1 defeat at Rochdale. Despite having Cian Bolger sent off, the Pirates seemed to be heading for a creditable draw when Will Hoskins cancelled out Craig Dawson's opener, but late goals from substitutes Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and Matt Done earned Dale the points, much to Penney's dismay. "Considering the performance we put in it's hard to take," he said. "For 70 minutes I was comfortable on the bench and I felt if anyone was going to score it would be us. "There are issues with their second goal, my lads felt Akpa Akpro was offside. The fact that so many of them went over to speak to the officials tells you how strongly they felt about the decision. But that's what happens when you are where we are. "We had lots of forward play and positives, but when you dominate teams like that you`ve got to kill them off. "I'm not disappointed with the performance, it's a case of us keeping on getting knocked down and kicked by the results."
