Jo Kuffour scored a hat-trick as Bristol Rovers thrashed Wycombe 6-3 to progress to the semi-finals of the Southern Section of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Kuffour doubled his goal tally for the season to six, and Wanderers striker Scott Rendell claimed a treble of his own in the nine-goal thriller. Rovers took the lead in the 22nd minute when Kuffour planted a header from Gary Sawyer's cross past Nikki Bull. The visitors were in control, and it came as no surprise when they doubled their lead when Kuffour finished with ease. Wycombe looked to be back in business when Rendell headed in Ben Strevens' cross but, within a minute, Kuffour collected John Akinde's pass before nudging the ball past Bull. It was game over soon afterwards when Chris Lines waltzed through some static defending before sliding the ball into the bottom corner. Jeff Hughes converted a penalty for the Pirates after Alan Bennett had brought down Jo Kuffour, before Rendell did the same for the hosts after he had been fouled by Lines. The striker then completed his hat-trick with a free header before Ben Swallow's rocket rounded off an extraordinary night.
