Bristol Rovers have secured the future of young midfielder Darren Jefferies, who has signed his first professional contract with the club. The 17-year-old celebrated his birthday by signing the two-and-a-half year deal and boss Paul Trollope spoke of his delight at tying up the youngsters future. He told the club's official website: "He's a player who has made huge steps forward in the few months that he's been with us, and he's shown the quality and application we are looking for. "Technically, he is very good and has a mature game management for his age. He also has a burning desire and hunger to be a footballer and we are pleased to secure his signature. "He's a little bit different to the players we already have here, but he passes the ball well, can go past players and has a good versatility about him in that he can play right across the midfield."
