Carl Regan signs one-year Shrewsbury Town contract

Shrewsbury Town have signed defender Carl Regan on a one-year contract after he was released by Bristol Rovers.The 30-year-old, who began his career as a trainee at Everton, had a loan spell with Notts County last season. [LNB]Manager Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire: "I'm quite happy to go into the season with what we've got. [LNB]"In terms of the first-team squad, we've got a nice balance of positional players, young players and more experienced players." [LNB]Regan began his career with Everton but left for Barnsley after failing to break into the first team.[LNB] [LNB][LNB] After two years with the Tykes, he moved on to Hull City, Chester City, Macclesfield Town and then in January 2008 MK Dons, rejoining ex-Macclesfield manager Paul Ince, as well as several former Silkmen players. [LNB]He made nearly 50 appearances with the Dons before signing a two-year deal with Bristol Rovers in 2009. [LNB]"That's it," added Turner. "It's 10 out and six in and I'm responsible for all of them. [LNB]"I've kept those signed by the previous management that I like and the new ones I've brought in are all mine." [LNB]"I'm hoping that, with my squad, we can have a good season."
