Injury headache continues for Ward

Bristol Rovers are down to the bear bones as they look to cause an upset in their Capital One Cup clash with Watford.

Manager John Ward could only name six substitutes as his injury-ravaged squad lost 2-1 to Exeter onSaturday and he says it will be three weeks before any of his absentees return.

Matt Gill, Garry Kenneth, Fabian Broghammer, Seanan Clucas, Jim Paterson and Danny Woodards remain sidelined while Matt Harrold andJordan Goddard's late withdrawals in Devon leaves Ward with few options for the Memorial Ground clash with last season's Championship play-off finalists.

Eliot Richards, who scored against the Grecians, could be moved upfront while Alefe Santos' cameo performance could see him given the nod from the start.

Ikechi Anya will miss Watford's trip.

The winger starred during Saturday's 1-0 victory at Birmingham but will miss out at the Memorial Stadium with a minor calf complaint, although he is expected to be okay for the weekend.

Long-term absentees Nyron Nosworthy (Achilles) and Tommie Hoban (ankle) remain sidelined.

Manager Gianfranco Zola is expected to make changes to his starting XI with the likes of Diego Fabbrini, Javier Caballero, Cristian Battocchio, Daniel Pudil and Joel Ekstrand, among others, coming into contention.
