Chelsea loanee Charlie Colkett eyeing first Bristol Rovers start against Walsall

Chelsea loanee Charlie Colkett is hoping to make his first Bristol Rovers start at home to Walsall.

Midfielder Colkett came off the bench in the closing stages of Saturday's Sky Bet League One draw with Rochdale, and Pirates boss Darrell Clarke could be tempted to freshen his side up with such a busy programme ahead.

Fellow loanee Jake Clarke-Salter built up his fitness in the Chelsea development side's 3-1 victory over Tottenham on Friday, but his Rovers debut is likely to be put on hold as he recovers from a knee injury.

Clarke, who deployed an unfamiliar 3-4-3 formation against Rochdale, has regularly rotated his strikers this season and Ellis Harrison could return after dropping to the bench on Saturday.

Simeon Jackson and Andreas Makris could be restored to the Walsall starting line-up.

Both players began on the bench at Northampton on Saturday following their returns from international duty.

Franck Moussa returned from injury as a substitute against the Cobblers, but Saddlers boss Jon Whitney believes the midfielder needs another week of training before he is ready to start a match.

Florent Cuvelier is also at least a week away from making his comeback from injury while Reece Flanagan (knee) remains a long-term absentee but could be back by Christmas.
