Frontman Riordan set to be rested Bristol Rovers boss Mark McGhee is sweating over the fitness of Derek Riordan ahead of their trip to Torquay. The striker missed last weekend's draw at Burton with a hamstring problem and is rated 50/50 to feature at the Memorial Stadium. Riordan only made his debut for the Pirates a fortnight ago after five months on the sidelines delayed his Rovers bow. McGhee hinted he may be tempted to leave Riordan for Tuesday's clash with AFC Wimbledon to prevent any possible setbacks. "We need Derek back as quickly as we can, but we're not going to do it at the expense of losing him for six weeks or something like that," he told the Bristol Post. "If he doesn't train, we might leave him off Saturday and look towards the Tuesday game (at AFC Wimbledon)." Meanwhile goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has extended his loan deal from Fulham for a further two months and is set to continue in goal. Skipper Matt Gill (knee) remains sidelined for up to five weeks. Torquay boss Martin Ling will be without winger Lloyd Macklin. Macklin has been ruled out until 2013 after cracking a metatarsal bone in his left foot during last weekend's win over Accrington. The 21-year-old was transfer-listed by Ling in the summer before fighting his way back into his plans but his season has already been disrupted by sickness and hamstring problems before the mishap. Macklin is now expected to be out for up to three months while Ian Morris may be considerably longer. The Irishman ruptured an Achilles tendon in training last month and could yet miss the rest of the season. Ling has no other injury or suspension worries ahead of the game as they aim to record back-to-back victories for the first time this season.
