Rovers hit by injuries

Bristol Rovers are missing a number of crucial players once more as they look to get their first victory of the season against Scunthorpe.

The injury-hit Pirates have started the season with defeats to Exeter and Watford but came through the 3-1 midweek defeat to the Hornets without any fresh injuries.

But that means manager John Ward is still without Matt Gill, Garry Kenneth, Fabian Broghammer, Seanan Clucas, Jim Paterson, Danny Woodards, Matt Harrold and Jordan Goddard.

Ward was only able to name six substitutes on Tuesday night and, with his squad down to the bare bones, the young trio of Shaquille Hunter, Alefe Santos and Mitch Harding will be involved once more at The Memorial Ground.

Scunthorpe will be without summer signing Andy Dawson, while Sean McAllister is an injury doubt.

Dawson will turn out for former club Hull in his own testimonial at the KC Stadium on Saturday as part of the agreement when he returned to Scunthorpe for his second spell.

Midfielder McAllister was forced out of the Capital One Cup penalty shootout defeat at Barnsley in midweek due to an ankle injury, but defender Eddie Nolan is back in contention following suspension.

Jordan Clark, who did not have permission to play against his former club Barnsley, is also available again and fellow striker Chris Iwelumo is pushing for his first competitive start after another appearance off the substitutes' bench.
