Bristol Rovers striker Matt Harrold looks set to be involved when the Pirates face Northampton on Saturday.

Harrold has managed just 20 minutes of competitive football since rupturing his cruciate ligament last September and then suffering a groin injury on the eve of the new campaign.

But having played for an hour in a training ground defeat to Bournemouth on Tuesday the former Wycombe forward is ready to return.

Having struggled for bodies at the start of the season, John Ward's injury worries are starting to ease as Ryan Brunt, Matt Gill and Garry Kenneth have also returned from the treatment room in recent weeks.

Northampton pair Matt Heath and Chris Hackett return to contention for the trip to Bristol Rovers.

Defender Heath has missed the club's last three matches due to a calf injury and has been welcomed back to the fold by manager Aidy Boothroyd.

Midfielder Hackett, only recently back from injury himself, was forced to watch last weekend's frustrating 2-1 home defeat to Torquay from the stands due to a one-match suspension.

Boothroyd is pondering both a change of personnel and system with Town having lost four of their opening five matches this season, but Lewis Hornby (back), Kelvin Langmead (knee) and Alex Nicholls (broken leg) remain sidelined.
