Brunt out for Rovers

Bristol Rovers striker Ryan Brunt will miss the visit of Hartlepool this weekend as the Pirates look to get back to winning ways.

The former Stoke forward missed the defeat to Dagenham with an ankle injury and is targetting next weekend's clash with Southend for a return to action.

John Ward, looking to end a run of two successive defeats in their first home match since August, gave Elliot Richards the nod over David Clarkson against the Daggers last weekend and the forward will hope to keep his place.

Meanwhile Seanan Clucas is set to play in the Gloucester Cup game as he ups his comeback from injury.

Hartlepool trio Neil Austin, Matty Dolan and Andy Monkhouse are all expected to shake off knocks.

Defender Austin was forced out of last week's home win over Accrington with a hamstring strain, while Dolan (ankle) and fellow midfielder Monkhouse (groin) were also substituted in the second half as a precaution.

But all three are expected to be back in contention after resuming full training this week and boss Colin Cooper could also be boosted by the return to contention of midfielder Antony Sweeney.

Sweeney, sidelined for the last six matches, had recovered from a torn calf muscle last week, but illness ruled him out of a comeback against Accrington.
