Billy Kee makes instant impact for Accrington

Billy Kee scored within moments of being introduced as a substitute to give Accrington a 1-0 Sky Bet League Two victory over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.

The 66th-minute replacement for Josh Windass netted with an acrobatic overhead kick from close range after a right-wing corner had been headed towards goal.

The spectacular effort settled a dire game of few chances. In the end the visitors might have won more comfortably as Shay McCartan had an effort saved by Lee Nicholls and Matt Crooks shot wide with a good late chance.

Rovers were punchless and it was a quiet afternoon for Accrington keeper Jason Mooney

The first half was a non-event. Tom Davies had an early shot blocked for Accrington, who might have had a penalty just before the break when Terry Gornell claimed he was pulled back.

Rovers had just one effort of note, a glancing header by Ollie Clarke from Chris Lines' corner as the half drew to a close, which was smothered at the near post.
