The 28-year-old has been included in John Toshack's squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Germany, to be played at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on March 28 and April 1 respectively. Williams had spent three years in the international wilderness since last being selected to represent his country by then-manager Mark Hughes in 2005. Johnson told City's official website: "I knew when I was bringing Gavin to Bristol City last summer that he was a very good player. I have worked with him as a youngster at Yeovil and now as a man at Bristol City. "I know what he is capable of producing and now so do the City fans. It has taken a bit of time to get him to that 'Gary Johnson' and 'Bristol City' fitness, which he had lost for whatever reason at Ipswich. I am just pleased the supporters are beginning to see his ability now. "Gavin has certainly worked hard in the past few months and fully deserves his call-up."
