Sharp shooter earns Rovers win

In the 12th minute Sharp latched onto a loose ball before firing in to make it five goals in as many games for the on-loan Sheffield United frontman.[LNB]The visitors rallied in the second half with Alvaro Saborio and Nicky Maynard going close but they were unable to find a way through as Doncaster made it three consecutive wins without conceding a goal.[LNB]Doncaster made a good start and Dean Shiels sent an effort wide after finding space just outside the box.[LNB]And with 12 minutes gone the home side got the goal their early pressure deserved when Sharp took advantage of some uncertainty in the Bristol City defence and pounced on a loose ball before firing past Dean Gerken.[LNB]Rovers continued to press forward in search of a second goal and they should have had one 11 minutes later when Shiels got away down the left and whipped in a fine cross but Sharp headed wide from close range.[LNB]That let-off sparked Bristol City into life and they gradually began to pose an attacking threat with Nicky Maynard having a shot from 20 yards saved by veteran Doncaster goalkeeper Neil Sullivan.[LNB]Minutes later Paul Hartley also tried his luck from distance but his shot did not trouble Sullivan.[LNB]Doncaster regained control of proceedings towards the end of the half with James Coppinger bringing a save out of Gerken.[LNB]Bristol City boss Gary Johnson brought Saborio on for Marvin Williams at half-time and he almost drew the Robins level minutes after the break but his shot from just outside the box was kept out by the alert Sullivan.[LNB]Minutes later Maynard got a sight of goal but his shot was superbly blocked by Doncaster's James O'Connor.[LNB]The visitors were piling forward in search of the equaliser and the lively Saborio saw his shot from 20 yards flash wide.[LNB]Doncaster eventually began to find their rhythm once again and Coppinger found space inside the box before firing over.[LNB]Soon after John Oster whipped in a corner which found Jason Shackell but he could only direct the header wide.[LNB]As the game wore on it was Doncaster who were looking the more likely to get a second goal and Sharp should have doubled their tally just after the hour mark but shot wide.[LNB]Johnson brought Lewin Nyatanga on for Lee Johnson and once again the substitution came close to paying dividends when the former Derby defender headed wide from close range.[LNB]Bristol City pressed late on but they were unable to find a way through as Doncaster held on for all three points.[LNB][LNB]
