Bristol Rovers have bolstered their forward line with the loan signing of John Akinde from city rivals Bristol City. Akinde has been allowed to leave the Robins after falling further down the pecking order at Ashton Gate following the signings of Brett Pitman and Jon Stead this week. The 21-year-old frontman goes straight into Rovers' squad for their npower League One game against Southampton on Saturday. Rovers boss Paul Trollope said: "We are very pleased to secure his signature. He is the type of player we have been searching for for quite a while, in terms of his physical attributes. "His all-round game is decent and he will bring different qualities and attributes to the squad and give us different options."
