The 32-year-old defensive midfielder left Celtic last week and City boss Gary Johnson has wasted little time in tying him to a two-year contract at Ashton Gate. "I came down last Sunday, spoke to the manager and I was very impressed, I'm looking forward to the challenge and there are exciting times ahead," Hartley told City's official website. "The manager is ambitious and wants to see the team progress and get into the top flight. "I'm looking forward to it and I can't wait to get started now. The Championship is a very good league and a very demanding league to play in. I hope the experience I bring to the squad will benefit us." Hartley becomes the second Scotland international to join City in the last week after they announced the capture of striker David Clarkson and Johnson is looking forward to seeing what effect he can have on his squad. "He's added experience to our squad, he's been there and done it," he said. "I think it's a good signing for us, he's got a good work-rate about his game. I think he'll be good on and off the field for this football club."
