Orr gaffe sends Bluebirds through

The clash of Championship rivals looked set to go to extra-time until 17 minutes from time, when Michael Chopra struck the post and the ball rebounded and hit Bristol City full-back Orr before finding the back of the net.[LNB]Chopra was a thorn in the Robins' side after coming on as a first-half substitute, and he had several chances to score before playing his part in the only goal of the game.[LNB]Ross McCormack also hit the crossbar after Orr's opener but a solitary goal was enough for the Bluebirds to set up a home tie with Leicester in the fourth round.[LNB]The Bluebirds made an encouraging start and McCormack, still searching for his first goal of the season, fired over from 25 yards out after just two minutes.[LNB]Scotland striker McCormack was in the thick of the action again after 10 minutes but his right-footed effort from just outside the penalty area failed to test Robins goalkeeper Dean Gerken.[LNB]Liam Fontaine had the visitors' first chance two minutes later when he rose highest to meet Paul Hartley's corner but his header was off target.[LNB]It was Dave Jones' home side who looked more likely to open the scoring and Gerken had to be alert to keep out a long-range drive from Peter Whittingham.[LNB]Chopra replaced the injured Aaron Wildig after 31 minutes and the former Newcastle striker made his presence felt straight away.[LNB]Chopra raced into the penalty area and lined up a left-footed strike which forced the agile Gerken to make a fine save with his feet.[LNB]And Chopra fashioned another opportunity for himself five minutes before the break but he volleyed over the bar.[LNB]Nicky Maynard could have made the Bluebirds pay for their wasteful finishing but the Robins' leading scorer also fired over from the edge of the area.[LNB]McCormack, operating on the left, crossed for Jay Bothroyd but the former Coventry striker headed over the bar.[LNB]The lively Chopra was once again denied by Gerken after his pace provided him with another sight of goal.[LNB]But the deadlock was finally broken when Chopra collected Adam Matthews' through-ball and hit a right-footed shot which rebounded off the post and against the unfortunate Orr before rolling into the back of the net.[LNB]Three minutes later McCormack was cursing his luck when his long-range drive struck the bar with Gerken beaten.[LNB]Chopra almost finished the tie off with 12 minutes remaining but the impressive Gerken tipped his left-footed effort around the post, however the one goal proved to be enough to put Cardiff through.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
