New deal for Gerken

Bristol City goalkeeper Dean Gerken has penned a new two-year deal at Ashton Gate. The 25-year-old was due to see his current contract expire in June but will now remain with the Robins until the summer of 2013. Gerken was signed from Colchester for an undisclosed fee in 2009 and has so far made 44 appearances for the club. However, due to last summer`s prize capture of David James, only one of those has come this season - in a Carling Cup first-round defeat to Southend. City manager Keith Millen told the club`s official website: "I`m delighted Dean has agreed this new deal and he thoroughly deserves it. "Dean is a quality goalkeeper and just the kind of player I want on our books. He`s been very professional in his approach this season and continues to work terrifically hard in training. Dean wants to play like every other player but he doesn`t moan or cause any trouble, he just gets his head down and gives 100%." Meanwhile, Millen has signalled his desire to hold talks with Tottenham in the summer in regard to keeping hold of season-long loanee Steven Caulker.
