Millen appointment vindicated - Lansdown
Outgoing Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown believes the decision to appoint Keith Millen as manager has been fully vindicated.
Lansdown had no hesitation in promoting Millen from his role of assistant when Steve Coppell quit the npower Championship club in August after just three months in the job.
Although his choice was criticised in some circles, particularly when City found themselves rooted to the foot of the table in October, Lansdown insists the subsequent recovery and 15th-place finish justifies his faith in Millen, who was assistant to three different managers at Ashton Gate before finally moving into the top job.
"I have been very impressed by the way Keith has gone about his job since his appointment at the start of the season, but then I never had any doubt he could do it," Lansdown told the Evening Post. "When Steve Coppell took the job, I said to Keith that his next role had to be as a manager and not an assistant. When Steve left, I had no doubts that Keith should be the next manager of the football club.
"I think I have been proved right. People now see that we have a manager who wants to put the building blocks in place to get us into the Premier League.
"Keith Millen is a hungry, young manager who wants this club to be successful and who wants to drive it forward. I'm reasonably excited by the way the club is looking at the moment."
