Maynard sets goal target

Maynard, a £2.25million summer signing from Crewe, netted 11 goals to be top scorer in his first season at Ashton Gate and was rewarded for his efforts with the club's young player of the year prize. "It was a big-money move for me to come here, but I had nothing to do with that, it was just between the two clubs," he told the Bristol Evening Post. "I just hope that next season I can hit the 20-mark and Bristol City can once again push for promotion. "That's what we are all aiming for and if we can bring a few more names in, I'm sure that's achievable. I want to thank everybody who voted for me and hope to repay them with goals next season." The club's awards night - which saw Maynard's strike partner Dele Adebola named player of the year - also saw a special award for outstanding service presented to long-serving winger Scott Murray, who is set to leave the Robins this summer.
